The 2023 MBC Drama Awards took place on December 30th to celebrate MBC’s top dramas and actors from the past year.
The prestigious Daesang (Grand Prize) was awarded to Namgoong Min for his lead role in the drama “My Dearest,” which also took home Drama of the Year. This marks Namgoong Min’s 2nd Daesang from MBC and 3rd overall, after previous wins for “The Veil” and “Stove League.”
For the mini-series, the Top Excellence Awards went to Woo Do Hwan (“Joseon Attorney”), Ahn Eun Jin (“My Dearest”), and Lee Se Young (“The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract”).
In the short-form/daily drama category, Kim Yoo Seok (“Meant to Be”) and Jang Seo Hee (“Game of Witches”) won the Top Excellence Awards.
Excellence Awards were given to actors like Bae In Hyuk, Park Gyu Young, Lee Hyeon Suk, and Jeon Hye Yeon for their performances.
Other major awards included Best Character for Kim Jong Tae, Best Couple for Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun Jin, and Best Supporting Actor for Choi Young Woo and Cha Chung Hwa.
Finally, the Best New Actor awards recognized up-and-coming actors Kim Moo Joon, Kim Yoon Woo, Park Jung Yeon, and Joo Hyun Young.
In summary, “My Dearest” and Namgoong Min led the night with 9 total awards, making them the big winners of the 2023 MBC Drama Awards.
