Reminiscent works with a retro theme have been more popular in recent years among viewers who enjoy nostalgically recalling the good old days and how easy life was in those days. A story that reflects the times with warmth and humor could be the perfect fit for you if this seems like something you’re into.
Synopsis of Romance in the Alley
The narrative centers on the lives of the Zhuang, Lin, and Wu families, who reside in a little lane in the Suzhou cotton mill housing estate, during the late 1970s, a period of social revolution and economic development. The three families and their children living in the alley are having their lives redefined as a result of the seismic shifts in society brought about by the return of educated youngsters to the city and the beginning of college admission tests. The warmth of family and the companionship of friendship in their small town have never been more significant, even with the rapid changes in society.
The younger generation’s entanglements are just as fascinating as the elder generation’s, which deals with more pragmatic “issues” like surviving on very little money. Viewers will be on edge as Zhuang Tunan (Fan Chengcheng) plays the role of the brother’s best friend and tries to break up his sister Zhuang Xiaoting (Guan Xiaotong) and her covert romance with Tunan’s good friend Lin Dongzhe (Wang Anyu). It remains to be seen if he succeeds or fails.
The retro period drama, which is based on Da Mi’s novel of the same name, stars a number of well-known characters in both major and supporting parts. From Lu Yuxiao, Shi Yunpeng, Zhou Jieqiong, Li Qian, and Zhang Ruihan to seasoned actress Yan Ni, Li Guangjie, Guo Xiaodong, Jiang Xin, Fan Chengcheng, Guan Xiaotong, and Wang Anyu.
