The new posters for Jo Jung Suk and Shin Se Kyung’s upcoming drama “Captivating the King” have been revealed!
The cruel love story of King Yi In (Jo Jung Suk), a miserable king who harbors an emptiness within him despite his high position, and Kang Hee Soo (Shin Se Kyung), whose initial motive of seeking revenge against him transforms into an unexpected attraction, is told in “Captivating the King,” written by Kim Sun Deok of tvN’s “The Crowned Clown.”
The first poster, which was just released, depicts the development of King Yi In and Kang Hee Soo’s relationship from a fateful infatuation to their cautious vigilance at the moment.
The poster features Jo Jung Suk and Shin Se Kyung as Prince Yi In and Kang Mong Woo, a woman who poses as a man, sharing a tender moment while cherry blossom petals swirl about them. After initially meeting under false pretenses, the two get close through the game of baduk (Go). The ad emphasizes the two protagonists’ emotional detachment from one another by depicting a scenario in which they are forced to hide their feelings for one another.
On the other side of the poster, which has a darker, more ominous vibe, a palace serves as the background. There is a clear sense of tension between them as Yi In now plays a lone monarch and Kang Hee Soo becomes a determined spy out to get revenge on him.
In a different poster, the two individuals stand in dramatic contrast to one another, offering a tantalizing preview of the compelling stories that will be revealed. The complex and nuanced relationship between the two is summed up by the statement in the center of the poster, “When you love them, you wish them to live — when you despise them, you wish them to die.”
