Dame Aylin from Baldur’s Gate 3 has many admirers criticizing her “disappointing lack of power,” leading them to believe that a problem must make her weaker.
Dame Aylin is the daughter of the goddess Selune in Baldur’s Gate 3, but many fans are wondering where her godlike abilities have disappeared after realizing how helpless she is in combat. It’s become so terrible, in fact, that a lot of people are wondering if her lack of power is really a hidden flaw that was inserted in a recent patch.
After discovering that “Dame Aylin is so weak it feels like a bug,” a member asked the community on Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit if Dame Aylin needed a significant upgrade. I lose interest in the game and find it upsetting.
They continued by saying that the current patch was the reason for all of this changing: “In this patch, it is a feel horrible…It would also be more logical to battle the Apostle of Myrkul if she multiplied her power. It is currently outside the pale, whether at the tactical level or beyond.
The poster was endorsed by many players, one of whom said that she is “narratively strong but mechanically weak.” Another person mirrored the commenter’s assessment, emphasizing that “she is kind of a disappointment,” particularly considering how much anticipation there is for her at the start of the game.
While many criticized Larian for lacking abilities, others offered suggestions on how to strengthen them: “She really just needs more health,” which would let her survive long enough to deal some remarkable damage—damage that is usually inflicted by her critical hits.
Aylin’s lack of strength was, however, explained as “for game balance” and “not everything needs a lore justification,” by many who stood up for her. Having another summon on the field that can both deal and take damage is already a significant boost.
Focusing on the classic D&D inspiration, several others clarified that “in DnD, there’s an unwritten rule for DMs.” Avoid abusing DM PCs or letting them take over the celebration. That, I believe, was Dame Aylin’s situation. If she is too strong and too easily accessible for cheesy fights, she could make the game too trivial and somewhat uninteresting.
Even though Dame Aylin is a deity’s daughter, the story always comes first. Fans may feel that she is a bit too weak, but it is imperative that the PCs receive greater glory, health, and damage than the NPCs in the game.
