Blurbs, a Twitch broadcaster, has gained popularity on the internet by sharing a video of a new mod they made that lets users voice in-game characters in Skyrim.

A Twitch streamer created a new mod that lets spectators voice in-game characters. Altering the conversational threads and thereby turning seemingly straightforward exchanges entirely upside down.

I created a Skyrim mod that allows my Twitch chat to voice in-game characters (with mouth movements/subtitles/etc) *live* in real-time. It went as horribly as you'd expect.

Blurbs, a Twitch streamer with over 70,000 followers, posted a video on X (formerly known as Twitter) that had some of the greatest moments from a recent live stream that tested the creation.

For instance, when you approach a young NPC in Skyrim, Blurb’s dialog takes over the conversation instead of the child providing some information or a brief statement about the wider world as they usually would. One particularly noteworthy voice line is when a viewer approaches a child in Riverwood and asks whether Blurbs “wants some dr*gs.” It’s exactly as absurd as one could anticipate from Twitch discussion.

Blurbs, the streamer, disclosed that this was their first attempt at making a mod of this kind and that it had been in the works for “a little over a month” before Dexerto contacted them.

“It was a learning curve because this was my first time modding a video game.”

Blurbs did note that their experience as software developers, however, enabled them to experiment with various kinds of mods within video games and aided in their shift into full-time content creation.

“As a former software developer who now works as a full-time creator, absurd things like this are the focus of all of my output. I’ve been extremely into integrating Unity into Twitch streams lately, but I realized that I’ve never tried modding games after seeing content creators like DougDoug and Criken. I had originally intended to simply overlay an outdated TTS system over the game, but I wanted to try integrating it right into the speech of the non-player characters.

Blurbs said that their chat has been requesting that they move the mod to another beloved Bethesda game when asked if they had any plans to incorporate this specific voice mod into other games. One that has recently been receiving a lot of attention.

Because of the recent success of the TV series, a lot of my readers have requested that I utilize this mod with Fallout. It should be doable, and after I’ve finished playing Skyrim, I’ll give it a go.

Blurbs told Dexerto that they are working on an instructional film that will be published on their YouTube channel in the upcoming weeks for anyone who is curious about how they made this hack.
