According to reports, Apple and OpenAI have reached an agreement for ChatGPT integration to enable AI functionality on iPhones.
According to a March Bloomberg article, Apple was in talks with Google and OpenAI to integrate their AI capabilities inside iPhones. The newspaper asserted later in April that OpenAI is leading the conversation. Furthermore, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple and OpenAI are getting closer to a deal.
According to the story, which quotes people with knowledge of the situation, “Apple Inc. has closed in on an agreement with OpenAI to use the startup’s technology on the iPhone, part of a broader push to bring artificial intelligence features to its devices.”
It appears that OpenAI and Apple are presently settling the details of an agreement to use ChatGPT features in Apple’s iOS 18, which is anticipated to be unveiled at WWDC 2024. According to Gurman, talks between Apple and Google “are ongoing” but have not yet resulted in an agreement.
Gurman claims that Apple will be able to “offer a popular chatbot as part of a flurry of new AI features” with iOS 18 thanks to the OpenAI partnership.
Though it was a latecomer to the AI party, Apple is now determined to take the lead. Announcing the newest iPad Pro last week, the Cupertino, California-based corporation referred to it as “an outrageously powerful device for artificial intelligence.” The M3 MacBook Air was also dubbed “World’s Best Consumer Laptop for AI” by Apple.
Given that Apple has already produced the powerful iPad and MacBook Air with AI, iPhones will probably follow. Apple may start things off this June at the WWDC conference, even if the new iPhones are probably not going to be revealed until September. The AI-powered iOS 18 is anticipated to be unveiled by the corporation.
According to reports, Siri is getting a significant AI makeover. Smart AI connections may also be added to other apps, such as Pages and Apple Music.
