TikTok is getting ready to take on Amazon during its July Prime Day celebration. The social network revealed on Thursday that starting on July 9, TikTok Shop would host a “Deals For You Days” sales event in the United States.
The news was made just a few days after Amazon disclosed the dates of its yearly Prime Day deals, which will be July 16 and 17.
Due to Prime Day’s past popularity, rival deals have been held on the day by both big and small merchants. Currently, TikTok is one of the companies following suit.
According to TikTok, there will be discounts on fashion and cosmetic items, backyard entertainment necessities, décor, best-selling summertime books, and more. Similar to Amazon’s Prime Day offers, TikTok Shop will provide special discounts on a number of products. Exclusive discounts on merchandise from L’Oréal Paris, Maybelline New York, NYX Professional Makeup, Our Place, Too Faced, and Zwilling USA will be available during the sales event.
Brands and retailers will take part in content challenges for quick films and LIVE shopping events during the sales event, giving them the chance to engage with their fans and highlight their best-selling items. Real-time discounts on well-liked products will be available throughout the LIVE events.
TikTok has made significant investments in e-commerce and plans to increase its TikTok Shop U.S. business tenfold, to the tune of up to $17.5 billion this year. TikTok hopes to compete with one of the biggest sales events in the United States with this upcoming bargains event. It’s important to note that TikTok Shop is aiming to compete with other Chinese-owned businesses Temu and Shein, both of which have gained popularity in the United States, even though it seems like this particular event is aimed at Amazon.
According to a Bloomberg story from last year, TikTok is predicted to generate a global gross merchandise value of about $20 billion by 2023, with Southeast Asia accounting for the majority of sales. Currently, TikTok is committed to bringing that success to the US market.
