After achieving a great deal throughout the years, One Piece has now set yet another milestone that will be very challenging for rivals to break.
One Piece has been operating for over 25 years, and there are no signs that it will slow down. Because of its captivating narrative and unique sense of lore and world-building, as well as Eiichiro Oda’s artistic vision, it has stayed at the forefront of the best anime and manga during that time.
It’s interesting to follow Luffy and the Straw Hats since there are so many entertaining people that add to the enjoyment of their exploits. Since then, the Toei studio has been releasing episodes on home media, and they have all grown to become significant achievements in their own right.
As of right now, the One Piece Day ’24 livestream has revealed that the franchise holds the record for the most DVDs sold by an anime series. As of August 7, 2024, when the first installment of the Egghead Arc DVD was released, One Piece has amassed 300 discs.
It’s difficult to see anyone surpassing this significant feat anytime soon. Due to its extended run and the frequent chapters that Eiichiro Oda produced for the anime to adapt, the franchise has amassed a record amount of history on its own.
With 500 million copies released to date and counting, it holds the record for the most copies of a single author’s comic book ever.
With more than 7.5 billion copies sold, the parent magazine Weekly Shonen Jump holds the record for most copies sold. These kinds of numbers are difficult to comprehend, which makes them much more remarkable.
And for some reason, One Piece is still more relevant than ever. The One Piece on Netflix, a Wit Studio version of the anime, is now in progress, and live-action One Piece Season 2 is scheduled to debut the following year.
