So far, “Are You the One” 柳舖蕰 has been a fun watch. Zhang Wanyi, reprising his role as a prince, engages in combat with adversaries at the opening scene, stopping an arrow with his bare hand before it pierces his throat. The disguised assassin’s identity is kept a secret, although it is obvious that she is a woman—possibly Wang Churan’s heroine.
A Joking Around
Following this exciting beginning, the tone drastically changes as we follow Liu Mian Tang, the protagonist, as she becomes a housewife in a rural village with lost memories. Cui Jiu has assured her that he is a devoted spouse, but something doesn’t feel right. Their exchanges are fascinating; he tries to keep up his front, but she is as perceptive as can be and almost gets past him several times. The plot shifts to a light comedy, with the main couple’s banter taking center stage during the majority of the first few episodes’ action, which takes place around the town.

There were a lot of promos for the show before it aired, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s surprisingly excellent, though! Even if popular search results are buyable, I find that I agree with the positive and show-praising trending hashtags. This show topped the ratings charts on its launch yesterday, August 12, and I’m kind of hooked, even though competition in dramaland isn’t as intense these days due to the recently concluded Olympic season.
Zhang Wanyi Acquires the Girl at Last
Even if “Are You the One” isn’t a comedy per se, it’s a lighter watch, and the couple’s interaction is endearing right away—especially because we’re still in the early phases of the “married couple’s” learning to love. Who would have thought Zhang Wanyi, who was so angst-ridden because he never got the girl in his prior plays, could be funny? At court, he’s the dark-bellied prince, but in his personal life, he’s just a spouse attempting to maintain appearances.
He’s forced to claim he’s a “good-for-nothing” husband after his preposterous career as a porcelain dealer starts to fall apart because it’s obvious he has no experience in the field. And when she misinterprets him and he goes into panic mode to stop her from starting to “undress,” it’s hilarious and endearing to see.
Wang Churan is undoubtedly recovering from the negative fallout from Fireworks of My Heart the previous year. The 25-year-old actress is very attractive, particularly in period pieces. She plays the part of the loving wife to perfection, yet even amnesia cannot take away from how fierce her character is.
“Are You the One” Overview

The narrative of 鋂渊加틂 centers on Yang Shan chieftain Liu Mian Tang, who was wounded and then rescued by Cui Xing Zhou, the Prince of Huai Yang. She confuses him for her husband when she awakens from amnesia. In the hopes that she may lead him to the bandits he has been after, he chooses to maintain the farce. What will happen, though, if their real identities are discovered? Although there are humorous elements in the book it’s based on, I have a feeling this will end up as a dog-blood drama. I’ll be there to witness it all when she realizes that he has been lying to her the entire time.
