The show that will dominate Netflix’s English-speaking charts this week was always obvious. The true treat on television, though, is A Nearly Normal Family.
You won’t be surprised to learn that Netflix’s English-language show rankings for Squid Game’s reality show spin-off are at the top. However, A Nearly Normal Family is currently topping the non-English charts of The Challenge, which is far less chaotic and more intellectual than Squid Game. It might not have as many characters and be less action-packed than the Squiddy spin-off. However, you might find it more interesting; its twisted trailer definitely piqued our interest.
Although there aren’t many reviews for the recently launched show yet, Rotten Tomatoes gives it a very good 86% audience rating. Furthermore, all of the published reviews are mostly positive.
What is the content of A Nearly Normal Family?
A Nearly Normal Family is based on the best-selling book of the same name and centers on an ordinary Swedish family whose lives are drastically altered by a horrible incident. Their adolescent daughter faces murder charges four years after the incident. An Almost Typical Family illustrates what transpires next.
The program doesn’t confine itself to a single viewpoint. Rather, there are three: the father, the daughter, and the mother. The show alternates between three distinct points of view at regular intervals, allowing viewers to see the same things from each angle while also allowing them to overlap and provide a more comprehensive picture. Furthermore, the image is not as straightforward as the family may think or as it would appear.
How far would you go to protect the people you love? is a straightforward but profound question posed to each viewer by the show.
“A gripping, edge-of-your-seat tale that will have you itching to watch more,” according to PureWow, and an all-caps rating of Decider STREAM IT: “We appreciate the storytelling structure… which should reduce the chances of eye-rolling plot points and red herrings,” despite the plodding pace. According to Readysteadycut, it’s “workmanlike” but a passably pleasant way to pass a few hours, and Heaven of Horror praised the performers’ “powerful portrayals.” “I was captivated right away,” remarks Karina Adelgaard.
