A listing by a South African vendor claims that laptops with AMD’s Ryzen ‘Strix Point’ APUs are now being released.
When it comes to APU CPUs for portable devices like the Steam Deck, AMD has been in the lead. Rumors have long persisted that the corporation intended to integrate these chips into other gadgets in order to increase their utility. This is confirmed by a listing from a South African shop, as AMD Ryzen Strix Point APUs can be found in Asus ROG gaming laptops.
AMD’s next-generation APUs, the Ryzen “Strix Point” family, will be used in a variety of laptops that Asus is getting ready to release. According to the source, Strix Point will power future Asus models denoted by a W in the model number.
According to a listing by South African shop Onlinetechsa, this information is verified. The next-generation Asus ROG Zephyrus gaming laptop is listed in this outlet. Its model number, GA605WI-O93210G0W, suggests that a Strix Point chip may be there, per a WCCFTech report.
The high-end laptop with a 16″ OLED display mentioned in the listing is the Asus ROG Zephyrus. Additional details found in the listing include up to twelve Zen 5 cores, or twenty-four threads, and twenty-four millibytes of L3 cache.
Additional specifications include an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, and 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The price in South African Rand is 69,100. This comes out to about $3700, but this isn’t believed to be the total cost.
There are more forthcoming devices that are rumored to feature AMD’s APUs besides the laptop. A leaked blueprint prior to Computex indicates that Asus is preparing a ROG Ally product revamp. This might be an upgraded version of the original Ally, running on the Ryzen Z1 APU, rather than the much-rumored Ally 2. The device might also have a bigger battery and have fixed the SD card problems.
