The announcement of “Keep Running’s” impending Season 12 has everyone buzzing. Despite the excitement around the anticipated start of filming in Nanning on March 28, there remains one unanswered question regarding the new season’s cast: Angelababy is not there.
Following Crazy Horse, Angelababy
The 35-year-old actress was the subject of reports last year over a supposed ban, which even resulted in the muting of her Chinese social media account (which is now operational again). Her appearance at Blackpink Lisa’s burlesque show at France’s Crazy Horse, which prompted a backlash and moral scrutiny in China, was thought to be the cause of this. Despite Crazy Horse’s clarification that Angelababy wasn’t there, it appears that the backlash has put her in danger of being banned.
Angelababy is one of the original members of “Keep Running” in a very special way. She has been a part of the show since its launch as “Running Man China,” a 2014 version of the well-liked South Korean variety show. She was notably the only female member at the time, mirroring Song Ji Hyo’s Korean counterpart’s configuration. With regulars like Bai Lu and Song Yuqi, it has altered since then, but Angelababy was a major fixture for 11 years, only missing season 5 because of pregnancy.
Cast of Keep Running Season 12
Angelababy has been attempting a comeback after her “hiatus,” most recently making an appearance at a fashion event in Shanghai, but it doesn’t appear that Keep Running will be part of her comeback. Li Chen, Zheng Kai, Sha Yi, actress Bai Lu, singer Zhou Shen, and Adam Fan Chengcheng are this year’s series regulars. The excitement is increased by Zhang Zhenyuan of TNT and Son Yuqi of GIDLE.
