During an unusual game of Pac-Man, WWE Superstars Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch recently set the record for the largest video game display. Due to their inclusion as playable characters in WWE 2K23 and several other WWE games, The Man and The EST of WWE are well-known in the gaming community. Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch, who were previously featured in several other real-life celebrities’ appearances in the hugely popular multiplayer battle royale shooter, were also added to Fortnite as character skins earlier this year.
Appropriately, Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch attended the 2023 Esports Awards, which honored significant accomplishments in the competitive gaming scene over the previous year and took place on November 30 at Resorts World in Las Vegas. Throughout the event, developer Riot Games was a strong presence and won two awards: Esports Publisher of the Year and Esports Game of the Year for Valorant. Lee “Faker” Sang-hook won Esports PC Player of the Year, while Team Vitality, which just celebrated its tenth anniversary, was named Esports Organization of the Year. These are just a few of the players and teams that were recognized at the ceremony.
After the 2023 eSports Awards, even more history was achieved when eSports players Alex “Golden Boy” Mendez and Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf, along with WWE Superstars Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch, played a 10-minute game of Pac-Man on the 100K square-foot video screen located on the Resorts World tower. This display broke the Guinness World Record for “Largest Digital Video Game Display,” which stood at 25K square feet, according to Casino.org. Bianca Belair even made light of the fact that, with the size of the display, she didn’t need to wear her glasses to play before the game.
Pac-Man is a beloved arcade game from the 1980s that has been converted to a variety of strange platforms over the years, including a TI graphing calculator, so this is hardly the first time someone has discovered a novel way to play it. More contemporary games like Minecraft and Ark Survival have also re-created the traditional Pac-Man level’s maze layout. Back in 2017, a farm in Idaho even turned its whole eighteen-acre cornfield into a real-life Pac-Man maze.
Given everything, it makes some sense that a Pac-Man game—especially one featuring well-known players like Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch—would break the record for the largest video game display ever. In addition to being recognized as trailblazers for their work in the WWE, these performers have had a significant influence on the video game industry.
