Scotty Pippen Jr. has officially signed a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Golden State Warriors 116-107 on Monday night at home.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the team is adding a new player following the game on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Wojnarowski: “Free agent G Scottie Pippen Jr. has agreed on a two-year, two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, agent Erika Ruiz of @KlutchSports tells ESPN.”
Pippen Jr. played basketball for Vanderbilt during his collegiate career and was a rookie with the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA.
He scored 2.3 points per game on average (33.3% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range) in six games (last season).
The 23-year-old has participated in the G League this season. In 12 Showcase Cup games, he has averaged 21.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. He has also participated in five regular season games. He shoots 50.6% from the field and 38.8% from three-point range.
The Grizzlies, on the other hand, have a 15–25 record after 40 games and are now the 13th seed in the Western Conference.
They have a record of 5-5 over their previous 10 games. They will visit Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on Thursday for their next game.
The club has struggled with injuries, and Steven Adams and Ja Morant will be sidelined for the whole campaign.
In order to determine whether a young player like Pippen Jr. can contribute to their future, it makes sense to contact him.
