Driving
How does driving feel like?
Though it may come as a surprise, the modest minivan can pull off a few tricks with its repertoire. Those venturing into the Pacifica aren’t doing so for the fun of it. To be clear, this is not saying that the Chrysler is actually a Porsche Macan; rather, it is a van that handles remarkably close to a car, and even in terms of turning corners and maneuvering through traffic, it excels beyond expectations.
The Pacifica trundles around without anything to get excited about after the initial shock of a reasonable performance wears off, but happily, things don’t get worse. From that point on, the travel is calm and uneventful, relieving drivers of one less item to worry about when their thoughts and focus are probably split between other matters.
How is the Pacifica hybrid doing?
Consistent with the rest of the car’s “we got this” mentality, the Hybrid Pacific lacks selectable driving modes. Even while it’s one less item to worry about, it’s still a noteworthy omission, especially for individuals who want to take a more active role in their energy regeneration and utilization. Instead, there’s a max-regen setting that reduces acceleration and deceleration times. It’s not quite one-pedal driving, but it’s still useful in urban areas. With all of that stated, the Pacifica Hybrid is predicted to have a range of around 520 miles, resulting in an estimated 83 MPGe or 0.89 mi/kWh.
How about assistance with driving?
The digital aspect of the car is as well-thought-out and convenient as the majority of its features, namely with regard to safety features. Such a vehicle needs to include a surround vision camera and sensors, in addition to the numerous sensors that provide awareness in all directions. Specifically, the automated braking and pedestrian-detecting features are highly refined.
Fortunately, there was never a practical test, although we did see that the auto-braking was unduly cautious while exiting driveways and parking lots. Infuriating? Maybe, but for good reason—after all, this is a family vehicle that is frequently accompanied by kids.
