Wu Chun and his family, like a lot of other Swifties, were in Melbourne this past weekend to see a performance as part of the Eras Tour’s Australian leg. Wu Chun expressed his delight on social media, writing, “Taylor Swift, here we come!” The 100,000-person Eras Tour in Melbourne is incredible! Since she was three years old, NeiNei has listened to Taylor Swift songs in my car. I never imagined that she would grow up to be her greatest admirer. Wu Chun also thanked Hannah Quinlivan, Jay Chou’s wife, for providing them with concert tickets, calling it a “dream come true.” But who would have guessed that Wu Chun’s sincere gratitude would ignite even more turmoil for Jay and his spouse, who Internet users have previously accused of feigning invitations from the pop queen herself?
“Invitations to the Taylor Swift Concert—Not Personal”
The Mandopop king had shared a post saying, “Bro is here to watch. We appreciate the amazing seats that Taylor Swift’s crew provided for us! He said, “The sound control in the stadium is very excellent. Jay revealed in a different Story post that he frequently spends his time there fiddling with the audio system before his own performances. However, it seems quite amazing to be sitting here and enjoying someone else’s concert.
Netizens, however, drew attention to the fact that, based on the image he had posted, Jay didn’t seem to be seated with Taylor’s crew and invited guests, who were seated in front of a black tent. Rather than the singer being gifted the tickets as he had said, they claimed that she was seated elsewhere in the seats. Some even conjectured that he had to buy the tickets.
Wu Chun retorted, “PR tickets also have a price,” in response to someone who said that it’s evident that it’s a PR ticket, that Jay was so excellent at “faking” the connection to Taylor’s team, and that he probably had to pay for it too. Happy Chinese New Year, I hope to everyone of you.” This served as confirmation for netizens’ assertions that the ticket is, in fact, a PR one.
Jay, though, seemed unfazed by the whole event and remarked, “I only see what I want to see, so there’s no problem.”
