Pop superstar Demi Lovato is engaged to boyfriend and songwriter Jordan “Jutes” Lutes after a whirlwind 10-month romance, a representative confirmed Saturday. Lutes, 32, proposed to Lovato, 30, with a custom pear-shaped diamond ring designed by NYC-based Material Good jewelry boutique.
The surprise proposal happened in Los Angeles, the couple’s home base, following a “personal and intimate” moment between the two artists. Close friends and family later joined the newly engaged pair for dinner and celebrations at Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood.
Lovato and Lutes first connected professionally last January while co-writing the deeply personal single “Substance” off Lovato’s just-released album Holy Fvck. Lutes has additional writing credits on the album’s tracks “Happy Ending” and “City of Angels.”
The musicians kept their budding relationship out of the spotlight until going Instagram official for Lovato’s 31st birthday in August 2022. Lutes commemorated the occasion with a slideshow tribute praising the pop icon as his “best friend” with an unparalleled “beautiful and talented” presence.
In recent interviews, Lovato has credited Lutes with helping inspire her return to pop-punk and authentic self after years of struggling with substance abuse and eating disorders. “I’ve never felt so comfortable around someone,” Lovato told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in August.
For his part, Lutes frequently supports Lovato’s advocacy for mental health awareness and the LGBTQ community.
As Lovato looks ahead to matrimony with her ideal partner, fans are hopeful this marks a new chapter of stability and happiness for the “Confident” singer after tumultuous relationships in the public eye.
While no wedding date or location has been set yet, insiders predict nuptials could happen within months as this Hollywood pair’s romance shows no signs of slowing down.
