The game Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is a tribute to fans of the numerous anime series from which it was created. Although there are many Easter eggs, one may be the most cleverly concealed.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s success has been nothing short of extraordinary. The Budokai Tenkaichi resurrection is well-received by fans, who helped it sell over 3 million copies at launch and rank among the most played fighting games on Steam ever.
In addition to having more than 180 playable characters, the game is jam-packed with references to the several Dragon Ball anime series that served as its inspiration. Although Z, Super, and GT are the main characters in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, the epic that began it all is still included.
Fans of the original Dragon Ball series will appreciate the unexpectedly subtle allusion to a beloved character. Of all places, it’s hidden in the character customization menu.
This particular deep cut alludes to Launch, a main character from the first Dragon Ball anime. The launch is well known for having several personalities that shift with each sneeze.
The original series’ artwork most frequently features the amiable Launch with blue hair and a cheerful disposition. She is a short-tempered, blonde bombshell who has committed numerous firearm violations and robs banks whenever she gets the sniffles.
Launch receives a shout-out from Krillin in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s customization menu, despite not being a playable character. Krillin will ask, “Hey, has anybody seen Launch around here?” when testing dialogue lines.
She doesn’t appear in the game’s menus or story, so the answer to that query is no. However, it doesn’t mean we won’t see her. According to rumors, the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament from the original anime will be the subject of one of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero’s DLC packs.
If Bandai Namco has the guts to make her shooting people a Super Move, we might even see her as a playable character.
