Ballistic, a new 5v5 tactical shooter mode that will launch in early access on December 11, is Fortnite’s daring entry into the competitive FPS market.
Previously only seen as an experimental feature in Creative via the First-Person Camera Mode device and momentarily during certain in-game events, the new Fortnite mode introduces an official first-person mode to the game for the first time.
This distinguishes it from its conventional third-person Battle Royale gameplay, as Epic’s Counter-Strike-inspired tactical round-by-round game mode appears poised to challenge FPS heavyweights.
How does Ballistic in Fortnite operate?
Ballistic is a tactical 5v5 game in which players are split into attackers and defenders, according to Epic Games. Defenders try to stop the attackers from planting a “reality-tearing Rift Point Device” at one of two locations.
Rounds terminate when the gadget explodes or a team is completely destroyed; there are no respawns during this time. The first team to win seven rounds is declared the winner after the teams switch after six rounds.
Like Valve’s previously mentioned shooter, Ballistic has an economy system. Beginning with a Ranger Pistol, players can earn 800 Credits by planting the Rift Point Device and eliminating enemies. Every round, credits are used to purchase vintage weapons and equipment from the Fortnite realm, increasing your chances of winning.
The option to exchange or loot goods like weapons and grenades from teammates or fallen players promotes teamwork, while surviving a round allows you to keep your equipment and shields (apart from consumables).
The Skyline 10 map, a simple weaponry set, and a small number of items will be available when Ballistic launches. After the game launches, Epic will deliver significant upgrades, such as new maps, weaponry, and features, and make changes based on user input.
Fortnite’s Ballistic mode will have both Ranked and Unranked choices, despite Epic’s announcement that it will launch in early access on December 11. This approach is consistent with similar FPS games, such as Valorant and Counter-Strike, which are renowned for their addictive ranking systems and tactical gameplay.
