The Best Choice Ever 承欢记 starring Yang Zi and Xu Kai finally has a release date, and it’s coming up soon! Our two characters are hoteliers in this next urban drama, which is already scheduled for release on April 9.
Yang Zi portrays Mai Chenghuan, a Shanghainese woman from a conventional family. She asks her fiancé to marry her at her mother’s insistence, but ultimately they break up because of her mother’s persistent interference. Mai Chenghuan puts herself into her work, however, she struggles all the time to balance her decision-making for herself with her filial loyalty to her parents. Her stepmother is impressed by her metamorphosis and gives her important duties at the hotel. She also becomes close to Yao Zhiming, the grandson of step-grandma, who is represented by Xu Kai.
The series’ teaser features multiple adorable moments between Yang Zi and Xu Kai from her inebriated karaoke session, when she rants about her breakup, floods the house, or is seen being dragged home on a cart by her inebriated self. Mai Chenghuan’s parents and her highly concerned mother are also glimpsed by us, sharing tender moments with Grandma Mai. In addition to romance, the narrative addresses the intricate, cross-generational female relationships that characterize modern society.
Three generations of women will be sharing the screen in terms of casting. Wu Yanshu, a veteran of the business who is considered a national treasure due to her class-A acting distinction, will play Grandma Mai. Renowned opera and drama actress He Saifei plays Yang Zhi’s mother, Liu Wanyu, in the meantime. Yang Zi, who is considered one of the four Dan actresses of the post-1990s age, is another. Along with Yao Anlian and Xu Kai, the series also includes special guests Niu Junfeng, Xu Lingyue, and Zhang Yao.
