Large dogs have different difficulties than little dogs. It may be difficult to keep them out of trouble because of the benefits that their size alone can provide. They can be quite difficult to tame once they attain their full potential.
Similar to one Great Dane’s love of rooting in the rubbish. He’s just incapable of passing up a chance; it’s not that he’s attempting to be evil. Thus far.
Watch this January 6 video to see the strategy his parents came up with to get him to stop garbage diving:
Rocco (@roccothegreatdane) is poor! Finding out that your days of unearthing hidden riches are finished is never easy. “Mom lived up to a word, and finally bought a new trash can,” he discloses. He explains that the old trash can was the ideal height and size for him to steal anything, even paper towels, which are his favorite. “They are absolutely worth a jail sentence when Mom catches me,” Rocco says. HAHA! However, Mom doesn’t seem to be having much joy when she pulls them out of the back of his neck. She was, understandably, sick of having to chase him all over the house to get them.
A Sensor-Activated Trash Can halts Trash Picking
He tells of a new can that opens magically. Hehe! He tells us he likes “Crimes of convenience,” even though he could certainly figure out how it works. He will settle for the easy way out, picking up the paper towels the humans leave behind, rather than trying to figure it out. That could prove beneficial. If not, I’m sure he can find out how to open the automatic can with ease. When he does, it turns into a contest.
Those who have seen the video have also experienced these issues related to dumpster diving. A joke was made by viewer @JeanineFrates: “Why do they love paper towels so much? Mine applies to those as well, hehe. For many, they appear to be a doggy delicacy. “I had to take the batteries out of mine to keep my German Shepherd out,” said viewer @B. Once they find something out, they can accomplish anything. In response, viewer @purgolder said, “Our Great Dane managed to open ours. She still doesn’t know why it’s switched off right now and we have to physically open it. There is always a way when there is a will. To handle this problem, I have my can in the laundry room on top of the dryer.
This gorgeous Great Dane hasn’t yet figured out how to open the automatic trashcan, but he very likely will. I’m hoping, though, that his family won’t be inspired to do so anytime soon.
