What You Should Understand
On Friday, the Jets will play in front of their home crowd, but a glance at the spread suggests they may require home-field advantage. On Friday, they play the Miami Dolphins at 3:00 p.m. ET. The Jets are obviously keen to break their current run of three games in which they have failed to score more than 12 points.
It appears that at Thanksgiving dinner, New York received the lesser half of the wishbone. On Sunday, they found themselves the reluctant targets of a 32–6 gut blow from the Bills.
This season, the Jets have made extensive use of their receiving core, as wideouts have received 53.7% of their throws. On Sunday, though, the team made a slight experiment: just 40.7% of the quarterback’s throws were completed by receivers. They only managed 2.9 yards per play, so it’s unlikely the Jets will try that again very soon.
The Jets struggled to move the ball and ended with just 155 total yards for the game, which may not come as a surprise given the score. In one area, the Bills gained 393 and their opponents destroyed them.
Miami, meantime, cannot claim that this Thanksgiving week has been devoid of gratitude. On Sunday, they defeated the Raiders 20–13 to win the game.
Tua Tagovailoa, who completed 71.8% of his passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns, and Tyreek Hill, who gained 146 receiving yards and a touchdown, are largely responsible for the Dolphins’ success.
The quarterback was not spared by the Dolphins, who intercepted three passes before the end of the game. Jalen Ramsey and Jaelan Phillips provided the picks.
Following their defeat, New York’s record fell to 4-6. Miami’s record now stands at 7-3 after winning six in a row at home since the start of the previous campaign.
Neither side was able to cover, but the Dolphins were the only ones that showed their fans some love during their most recent game. Regarding their upcoming game, the Dolphins have a 9.5-point advantage according to the experts, so they shouldn’t be too concerned. Given that the Jets have disappointed fans in their last three games, this matchup may not be the ideal opportunity to wager on them against the spread.
The previous time the two clubs played, back in January, New York lost 11-6 to Miami. Will the Jets’ chances of success at home surpass those on the road? After the game, return here for in-depth commentary on the game and additional NFL content.
