The primary actors for the upcoming spinoff of Netflix’s 2023 Korean action film Kill Boksoon have just been revealed.

In addition to its numerous popular K-dramas, Netflix also achieved success with Kill Boksoon. Its thrilling plot and action-packed combat scene won praise from critics. The protagonist of the film is a lone mother who doubles as a clandestine mercenary for an underground group.

The story’s pivotal moment occurs when her contract is about to expire and she enters a game of “kill or be killed,” which drastically alters the course of events. According to recent reports from Netflix, a spinoff film based on Kill Boksoon is currently in development.

Co-stars of Squid Game Season 2 Im Si-wan and Park Gyu-young are said to be leading the spinoff, according to Soompi. Before making an official announcement, the agencies of the two actors have stated that they are currently evaluating the idea.

The Mantis working title is now used for the Kill Boksoon spinoff. We are evaluating a number of ideas, including “Mantis,” in an effort to identify a worthwhile endeavor. According to Netflix, no decisions have been made yet.

Fans of the original film may recognize Mantis because of its close connection to the plot. There are several exchanges on a codename agent/killer named Mantis between Cha Min-kyu (Sol Kyung-gu) and Cha Min-hee (Esom) during the film.

The plot of the film is not entirely apparent. Since Mantis is a spinoff, it might occur either before or after the events of Kill Boksoon, featuring a younger version of the killer. A mid-credit scene in Kill Boksoon also hinted at a possible sequel. Bok-soon and her daughter received taunts encouraging them to pursue new careers.

Actor Im is reportedly set to portray the murderer; Park’s part is still to be confirmed. The Kill Boksoon spinoff is rumored to start production in August.
