Is Immaculate based on a true story?
Immaculate is a screenplay composed entirely of fiction authored by Andrew Lobel; it is not based on a factual story.
The narrative centers on Sister Cecilia, an American girl of great piety who enters an Italian convent. While she’s there, she finds out she’s pregnant—an impeccable pregnancy that would ostensibly give birth to the savior of humanity. Biblical stories touch on the idea of immaculate conception, particularly as it relates to Jesus’ mother, Mary.
The phrase “immaculate conception” is sometimes misinterpreted to mean that Mary conceived Jesus.
In actuality, though, it alludes to the notion that Mary was kept pure from original sin from the time of her conception by God.
The 2024 horror film Immaculate has a similar plot, but since it’s a body horror, nothing is quite what it seems. No historical records exist to support the existence of a comparable incident. If you’d like, you may think of the Bible as the source of inspiration for the latest film! (You might not agree with the outcome.)
