Owing to allusions to Iron Wolf in the PTR, some gamers of Diablo 4 anticipate the mercenary organization having a major role in Season 4.
The Player Test Run for Diablo 4 will run until April 9 and allow a small group of players to see what Season 4 has in store.
Test participants have not spent any time sharing their thoughts and some of the more intriguing discoveries. A few discoveries center on the Iron Wolf faction, which is a mercenary gang that dates back to the days of Diablo 2.
For example, PTR players have obtained Wolf Clan Shards via treasure drops and gained Iron Wolf reputation points (Wolf’s Honor). What this means is that some players believe these allusions could allude to the theme of Season 4, which has not yet been revealed.
Diablo 4. Some of the components included in the Season 4 PTR release have been flooded with life. A component with the file name 2DUI_Seasonal_Reputation_UI appears to have a potential Season 4 badge that looks a lot like the Iron Wolf logo.
A new map icon was also discovered on the website. It resembles the wolf logo seen above, with a small green leaf in the upper-right corner. These and other hints suggest that Season 4 may have some sort of Iron Wolf theme at its core.
Another twist to the notion was offered by Diablo 4 gamers in a Reddit thread, who suggested that the mercenaries might appear in a mid-season event similar to December 2023’s Midwinter Blight.
“I believe this might be a mid-season event and not the theme of the season,” reads one such response. The weaponry and armor on the battle pass don’t resemble those of [the Iron Wolf]. Everywhere you look, there are wings.
A different commenter speculated that the event would occur in the summer, saying, “Probably for a summer solstice event like they did for the lunar new year.”
Though Blizzard has not yet confirmed a theme for Diablo 4’s fourth season, fans may anticipate the much-anticipated itemization overhaul. On May 14, the new season will debut.
