For Jesse Ren Yunjie (任运杰), everything is happening at once. He’s finally made a name for himself with his new drama Embrace in the Dark Night (我们在黑夜中相拥), faced criticism for his actions with co-star Fang Jin (方瑾), and he was recently trending with his purported lover Tan Xiaofan (谭晓凡).
A Seductive Short Drama Gets Attention
The male lead in the short drama Embrace in the Dark Night is played by Jesse Ren Yunjie. Although the show obviously has a restricted budget and isn’t even a full-length drama, it is mildly enjoyable. When the actor entered the scene as a fighter akin to a mercenary and saved the main female character who was being held captive and being sold as a prize in an underground combat ring, it undoubtedly heated up the screen. The show is getting a lot of attention, which is not surprising given the sultry bed scene that opens the episode and leaves viewers wondering if they’re permitted to watch it! It’s okay because it’s a C-drama, but there is undeniable chemistry between the two stars. She’s a fierce individual in her own right, and he’s the really cool man. You are left wanting more after that cliffhanger smack. After years in the business, it’s about time for both leads to receive some recognition at last.

After backlash, rumors about Ren Yunjie’s girlfriend
The two stars were expected to promote the drama once it aired, and they have. The 28-year-old actor, though, drew criticism for the way he treated co-star Fang Jin during their most recent Embrace in the Dark Night broadcast. Ren Yunjie questioned Fang Jin, “What are you doing?” after she attempted to “act cute” with him. He imitated her, asking, “Then why were you crying?” after she clarified that she was merely attempting to be cute. Ren Yunjie essentially stated that he didn’t understand her intentions. He even suggests that she “act cute” with a plush toy if she’s uncomfortable with him during the awkward moment.
People on social media began to appreciate his “alternate” social media account, where he appeared to be a really kind guy “in love,” and felt that he was purposefully being aloof. He became popular with Tan Xiaofan, an actress who online users assumed to be his girlfriend. Fans were furious when Ren Yunjie drew a pig nose for Fang Jin during the livestream when they had to draw each other. This was especially because his previous drawings demonstrated his ability to draw.
With the exception of that awkward moment, several fans have backed him, stating he wasn’t doing things half-heartedly and that he was cooperative during the broadcast. They contend that blaming him is unfair because it’s likely that at the time he was genuinely unaware of co-star Fang Jin. Others, on the other hand, think that since he was “on the job” at the time, it wasn’t appropriate for him to treat his co-star that way during promotional shots, not whether or not he has a girlfriend.
