Following Microsoft’s collapse, PUBG publisher KRAFTON bought Hi-Fi Rush’s creator, Tango GaHelloorks, enabling the studio to continue working.
It was revealed on May 8, 2024, that Microsoft had decided to shut down Arcane Austin, Alpha Dog Games, and Tango Gameworks permanently.
Many fans were particularly incensed by the announcement of Tango’s closing during the time the studio released Hi-Fi Rush, a highly regarded game that was well-received by players.
KRAFTON, the PUBG publisher, has now intervened, reportedly announcing plans to purchase Tango Gameworks and prevent the studio from closing, several months after the news first surfaced.
Tango Gameworks was welcomed by KRAFTON as part of the company’s “first significant investment” into the Japanese video game sector, the announcement was made in a press release. They plan to let Tango Gameworks carry on with their latest endeavor.
According to the release, “KRAFTON intends to collaborate with Xbox and ZeniMax as part of this strategic agreement to ensure a smooth transition and maintain continuity at Tango Gameworks.”
It is also implied that Tango Gameworks is working on a new project related to Hi-Fi Rush by saying that they are “allowing the talented team to continue developing the Hi-Fi Rush IP and explore future projects.”
Furthermore, every title in Tango’s current library, including Ghostwire: Tokyo, The Evil Within series, and Hi-Fi Rush, will continue to be easily accessible across all game store platforms and Xbox Game Pass.
In response to the announcement, the studio’s Creative Director and Director of Hi-Fi Rush, John Johanas, said, “…and this is how it continues.” Hey, darling, we’re back!
Hi-Fans congratulated Tango for providing Fi Rush with its final update prior to its closure in May, and it appears that we will now be seeing more from them going forward.
