Larian Studios has launched the huge Patch 5 update for Baldur’s Gate 3, one of the most popular RPG games of 2023. The update includes major additions like a new epilogue, two new gameplay modes, performance improvements, art fixes, writing tweaks, and cinematic polish.
Key Highlights:
- New Epilogue – Called a “final goodbye” with complex writing.
- Honour Mode and Custom Mode Added – New challenging gameplay options.
- Optimization – Focused on improving performance issues, especially in Act 3.
- New Translations – The game is now available in Korean.
- Streamlined Inventories – Can now access companion inventories at camp.
- Over 30 GB Update – Massive download requires 130 GB install space.
The patch addresses a plethora of issues and player requests across all areas of the game including combat balance tweaks, controller support upgrades, level design fixes, loot additions, journal improvements, and visual effect bug fixes.
There is also a significant amount of cinematic dialogue polish, with animation fixes, camera angle adjustments, facial animation improvements, and lip sync tweaks.
The update comes shortly after the game received 8 nominations at The Game Awards, including Game of the Year, showing the critical acclaim Baldur’s Gate 3 has achieved. Larian looks to continue improving the game as it heads towards full launch.
