Eastern Fantasy’s “Love Game” The live-action television series 참夜옟첳 is adapted from the widely read book The Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus. Even if the drama’s English title seems a little strange and should be better, in my opinion, it’s a reference to the “game theme” the program is running with, which is emphasized by the neon fonts and love meters that appear when the heroine tries to finish her mission and return to the real world.
In relation to that, Esther Yu Shuxin portrays Ling Miaomiao, the main character—a young woman who is unintentionally “thrown” into a narrative. The 28-year-old actress usually portrays happy, cutesy roles. However, Esther displayed an entirely different side as a cool-headed and educated spy in the popular television series My Journey to You. Even if Lin Yu is meant to be the bad cannon fodder in the book universe of Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, it’s evident that a lot of the actress’ outrageous personality still comes through.
Similarly, considering that Ryan’s task is to win over the heart of the enigmatic “black lotus,” Mu Sheng Since she starts the novel with a -200 affection score, Ding Yuxi’s character, who plays the second male protagonist, makes persistent attempts to win him over, which ultimately turn out to be really humorous. This half-human, half-demon character, who belongs to a family that hunts demons, falls in love with his sister Mu Yao, played by Bambi Zhu Xudan. As Bambi reunites with her Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact love interest Yang Shize to play the second main couple, it appears that everyone eventually finds a partner.
