The primary actors of “My Happy Ending” gave their last impressions of the drama ahead of the show’s finale.
“We started filming in April, and there was some difficult content while filming for a long period of time, but we’ve finally reached the end,” said Jang Nara, who plays the character of Seo Jae Won, a person who battles to uncover the truth. The actress expressed her gratitude to the staff and said, “‘My Happy Ending’ was like a learning experience to me.” I believed it would be really hard when I first started, and I struggled with the assignment since it was even harder than I had anticipated. Even though there were times I was able to overcome obstacles and times I wasn’t, I believe that putting a wrap on “My Happy Ending” was a wonderful learning experience for me.
Because she rehearsed the moment by herself so much, Jang Nara chose the opening scene of the first episode, in which her character introduces herself by stating, “Hello, I’m Drev’s CEO, Seo Jae Won,” as her most memorable scene.
Son Ho Jun, who portrays Heo Soon Young, the husband of Seo Jae Won, expressed his mixed emotions at having to say goodbye to his fellow cast members and employees. “My Happy Ending,” he continued, “is the project for which I think I showcased the most intense emotions.” I learned a lot from this endeavor since it allowed me to determine the amount to which I could employ that emotion. This project has enabled me to develop.
In addition, Son Ho Jun mentioned his most unforgettable moment, saying, “There is a scene in which they converse while his back is turned to Ah Rin, who comes looking for her dad, and that scene was very painful after Heo Soon Young learns that his daughter Heo Ah Rin (Choi So Yul) is not his biological daughter.” The actor expressed gratitude to the audience for staying until the very end.
Thus, Yi Hyun, who dramatically changes into Kwon Yoon Jin, expressed her happiness in playing the part. “The filming itself was so enjoyable, and she’s a character I really like,” the actress said. “My Happy Ending” elicited a range of complex emotions in me, she continued, and it was exciting and enjoyable to discover these [new] aspects of myself through acting.”
Because of how enjoyable but chilly the day of filming was, So Yi Hyun selected a scene in which her character strikes a deal with Nam Tae Joo (Park Ho San) as her most memorable moment. “I remember every moment,” she continued, “because all the scenes filmed with actress Jang Nara were tense and enjoyable.”
Actor Lee Ki Taek, who plays Yoon Tae Oh, voiced his regret at leaving the drama, saying, “Along with the director and senior actors, I became closer to Tae Oh while working together and sharing many conversations on a busy set.” I wish to express my appreciation. “I’m grateful to have met the role of Yoon Tae Oh itself, and every scene felt precious and happy, so they are all memorable,” he went on.
“Seo Chang Seok of ‘My Happy Ending’ is a [type of] character I have not met once during my 35 years as an actor,” revealed Kim Hong Fa, who plays Seo Jae Won’s stepfather. He is a kind father who gave his all, loved his child, and made sacrifices for him. Kim Hong Fa selected the scene where Seo Jae Won pays a visit to Seo Chang Seok while he is incarcerated as his favorite. “I think I cried a lot that day,” he said. That made a big impression on me since I was thinking of my [character’s] daughter and felt very thankful and guilty.
“[The drama] felt meaningful because, through the role of Nam Tae Joo, I could showcase a character I had yet to portray and an act I had yet to try,” said Park Ho San, who plays Nam Tae Joo. “I wish [the atmosphere] will feel uneasy when you appear [on screen], so I tried to create a dark atmosphere,” directed me by director Jo Soo Won. Park Ho San selected the sequence in episode 15 where he falls into the water as his most memorable because of how chilly the water felt. “Next time, I’ll welcome viewers with a bright and enjoyable role,” he continued.
The cast and crew of “My Happy Ending” tweeted, “We express our gratitude to the actors who enthusiastically gave it all with their solid acting skills,” inviting viewers to watch the series finale to find out if the drama has a happy ending.
“My Happy Ending”‘s last episode will premiere on February 25 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
