Supporters of Jujutsu Kaisen believe that there is a character with less story armor than Sukuna, and they detest the way the series portrays it.
Even though Jujutsu Kaisen is renowned for treating its characters brutally, some characters receive more attention than others. Ryomen Sukuna, the story’s major nemesis, has been accused of possessing a severe case of plot armor, making it impossible for any character to overcome him.
That isn’t totally accurate, though. Sukuna is one of the strongest Jujutsu Kaisen characters, if not the strongest, as has been made abundantly evident from the outset. However, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, Gege Akutami, clearly favors one other character over another.
Plot armor is worse on Kenjaku, another important antagonist, than it is on Sukuna. Kenjaku has acquired control of Suguru Geto, one of the four Special Grade sorcerers, and his Curse Manipulation Technique thanks to his cursed technique.
He also displays another CT—Anti-gravity—during his battle with Yuki Tsukumo, Choso, and Tengen. This CT was acquired by having Kaori Itadori’s body. Kenjaku employed this CT as a gravity method throughout the narrative, only to realize its actual potential when he most needed it. The Jujutsu Kaisen fandom is furious because of this.
Yuki Tsukumo is just as strong a character as Kenjaku. She is one of the strongest of the four Special Grade sorcerers. She even demonstrated greater strength than Geto throughout their battle. Such a strong character died in vain since she was unable to stop Kenjaku.
The most annoying thing to the fan base is how easy it was to discover Kenjaku’s anti-gravity method all of a sudden. It was precisely what he required to defeat Yuki’s CT. Furthermore, his win over Yuki has no lasting significance. Kenjaku is revealed to be no more powerful than he was before, even after taking down a formidable character like Yuki.
Actually, Takaba was Kenjaku’s sole significant opponent after Yuki, and even then, he didn’t do anything. After that, Yuta Okkotsu, a different Special Grade sorcerer, instantly killed him. Therefore, it makes no sense for Kenjaku to fight a powerful opponent like Yuki, and he would undoubtedly lose without his unbreakable plan armor.
One fan expresses their dissatisfaction over the battle on Reddit, saying, “Despite everything that has happened, this fight has been the only thing in the manga that genuinely made me mad.”
“I would’ve been okay with Yuki dying here if afterward Kenjaku was made to be an absolute monster,” comments another fan in agreement with this. “But no, the only thing Kenny did afterward was die to a living sh*t post and Yuta.”
While popular shows like Jujutsu Kaisen are constantly criticized for various reasons, fans of Kenjaku find the plot of the show too compelling to ignore.
