The Chinese version of the well-known South Korean movie The Classic will star Lin Yi and Vanda Margraf as the primary couple. The Chinese adaptation, aptly named “Our Destiny” 我们的命中注定, will continue in the same direction as the original. A woman discovers that her mother’s love story and her own have striking parallels.
“I realized that some encounters are predestined as if two souls were fated to always meet and be by each other’s side, across time and distance, until the day I met you.”
Jo In-sung plays Sang Min and Son Ye-jin plays Ji-hye in the 2003 version. In the narrative, Ji-hye is cleaning their home when she finds a box of her mother’s old letters. She quickly realizes as she reads through each one that her own tale is similar to that of her mother Jo-Hee, whose love for Joon-ha was doomed from the beginning. It was just not meant to be, especially with the added complication of Joon-ha’s buddy Tae-soo and a marriage arranged by her parents. But when Joon-ha’s son Sang Min and Ji-Hye, the daughter of Jo-hee, fall in love, everything finally comes full circle.
The script for Our Destiny, which will be helmed by Mai Zi, was written by Kong Yaya and Lu Anxian, the writers of the well-known movie Someday or One Day.
