The mid-season 10 changes in Overwatch 2 have Tank players jumping for joy as their role receives significant improvements in survivability, but DPS and Support players are apprehensive.
The developers of Overwatch 2 have teased what will be included in the May 14 patch for users. The Tank position is being completely redesigned with numerous benefits in this latest release.
Tanks will get a 25% reduction in headshot damage along with a 50% increase in knockback resistance. The new health recovery tweak, most benefits the role, and armor damage has also been reduced to what it was in Overwatch 1.
Furthermore, Wrecking Ball and Junker Queen will also receive further boosts, making major improvements to the whole tank roster.
Tank players are happy about these adjustments. Many have dubbed the most “miserable” job in the most recent seasons as receiving much-needed affection. Players that play DPS and Support are dubious about the changes, though.
A gamer made the following statement regarding Junker Queen’s new adjustments in a Reddit thread: “You can shout on [Junker Queen] while using other abilities Queen’s heads rise up!”
Pro player and Tank main LhCloudy tweeted, “Zen kick cannot bully Reinhardt anymore, reinbros keep winning.”
Naturally, other positions are apprehensive in light of these new tank alterations. “Tank players are yapping their way to players who would have thought to break the game,” pro player and support main Rakattack claimed.
A streamer and DPS main named Samito tweeted, “It has got to be one of the least fun changes ever put into Overwatch—tanks taking 25% less damage from headshots.”
Until the upgrade goes live, we won’t know exactly how big of an impact these improvements will have, but it’s safe to say that the Tank position has returned to its former grandeur.
