The configurator now offers two additional plug-in hybrid versions of the 2019 Porsche Panamera, with prices of £102,100 and £90,200, respectively. Be prepared for a voluminous list of terms.
A “completely new” electric motor and a “significantly revamped” 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo petrol engine power the Panamera 4 and 4S hybrids, respectively, providing more power, faster acceleration, and increased range.
Forget it—the Panamera 4 E-Hy outperforms those components with 464 horsepower and 474 lb-ft, reaching a top speed of 174 mph in 4.1 seconds from 0 to 62 mph.
Porsche hastens to add that the latter is good for 536 bhp and 553 lb-ft, which reduces the 0-62 mph sprint to 3.7 seconds. The Vmax, “where permitted,” can reach speeds of up to 180 mph.
With a 25.9-kWh battery that holds 45 percent more e-juice than the previous one could hold, both automobiles can travel up to 59 miles on electricity alone. Two hours and 29 minutes is the reduced top-up time thanks to an 11kW on-board charger.
Recall that the Panamera debuted with a 4.0-liter V8-powered Turbo E-Hybrid engine that produced 671 horsepower and that a Turbo S E-Hybrid with even more power is still on the way. Jeepers.
Porsche attributes its PHEV advantages to a more robust motor that is installed in the Panamera in a more effective and lightweight manner, resulting in a 50% reduction in the rotor’s mass inertia. The business claims that this has positive effects on throttle response as well. With 118 horsepower of regeneration, additional electrons are regenerated when braking.
Four driving modes accomplish their intended tasks: Sport and Sport Plus settings, Hybrid Auto, E-Power, E-Hold, and E-Charge.
Both Porsche’s active suspension management system, which employs two-valve dampers to maintain the Panamera’s body level at all times, and its adaptive two-chamber air suspension are standard. Now is not the time to spill that morning cappuccino.
While the 4SE-H has 20s with red brakes (acid green is an option as well) and silver sport tailpipes, the Panamera 4 E-Hy has 19s and black brake calipers. The front brakes are upgraded as well, becoming ten-piston units; optional carbon ceramic wheels (440 mm up front, 410 mm out back) are mounted on 21-inch tires.
The first deliveries of the new plug-ins are anticipated in the second quarter of 2024, and they are currently on sale. But you’re going to wait for the Turbo S, right?
