The next foldable smartphone from Samsung is called the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Everything you should know about the device is as follows:
Nearly five years have passed since Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Fold, the company’s first foldable smartphone. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the most recent model in the company’s fifth line of folding phones. In recent years, Samsung has made significant improvements to these devices, giving them better hinges, processors, and cameras.
Later this year, Samsung’s next generation of foldable books could make their appearance. There should be a few minor tweaks here and there with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. A redesigned display, a new processor, and minor camera improvements are to be expected.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Potential release date
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 might be revealed by Samsung in the third quarter of 2024. Instead of August, when the firm typically announces the release of its foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 was unveiled in July. At the brand’s Unpacked event, the future foldable will probably be unveiled at roughly the same time.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Estimated price
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6’s price is yet unknown. According to leaks, Samsung may release two Fold variants this year. One could be an expensive “Ultra” version, while the other, known as the Z Fold 6, could be far less expensive than the Z Fold 5 that came before it. According to an unverified allegation from a Korean publication, the standard model may cost approximately $800, while the Ultra version may continue to retail for $1800, the price of the Z Fold 5.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 from Samsung: Design and Display
Though its appearance might not be very different from the Z Fold 5, the Galaxy Fold 6 might have somewhat different measurements. In a post on X, leaker and Samsung fan @UniverseIce stated that the next foldable would have a 6.3-inch cover screen with a 22:9 aspect ratio and a 7.6-inch foldable display with a 7:6 aspect ratio.
The Z Fold 5’s cover screen is difficult to operate because of its 23.1:9 aspect ratio. Some foldables, like the Pixel Fold and OnePlus Open, have wider cover screens, which facilitates typing and using Android apps. On the other hand, the Z Fold 6 should be marginally easier to operate due to its outer display’s 22:9 aspect ratio.
On the Z Fold 6, other display upgrades are possible. The phone’s internal and external displays will have greater resolutions, according to UniverseIce. However, the leaker did not say which resolution. The Z Fold 5 features a cover screen that measures 904 x 2316 and a folding screen that measures 1812 x 2176. The cover display may grow in size from 6.2 to 6.3 inches.
According to UniverseIce, the Z Fold 6 will weigh 239g, measure 12.1mm when folded closed, and measure 5.6mm when unfolded. This would result in the forthcoming foldable being marginally lighter and thinner than the Z Fold 5, which weighs 253g and has folded and unfolded measurements of 13.4mm and 6.1mm, respectively.
Cameras on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 may keep the same 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, 10-megapixel telephoto lens, and 50MP primary sensor as the Z Fold 5. This year, there was a report that the foldable Z Fold 6 would use the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s primary camera. However, Galaxy Club refuted this theory, stating that the Z Fold 6 will keep its 50MP main camera.
Right now, it’s still anyone’s guess what the phone’s front and under-display cameras will look like.
specs for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
Significant hardware improvements are anticipated for Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphone. The processor might use a significant upgrade. Typically, every Fold model has the most advanced Qualcomm processor available. For example, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powers the Z Fold 5, while reports suggest that the Z Fold 6 may use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s processor and this one are identical. However, it might differ from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU seen in devices such as the OnePlus 12. Samsung may choose an upgraded model of Qualcomm’s most recent CPU, which has a faster maximum clock speed of 3.4 GHz.
The smartphone may have ultra-fast UFS 4.0 storage and 12GB or 16GB of RAM. The foldable’s battery specifications don’t appear to be altering by Samsung. According to @UniverseIce, a 25W charging will not affect the Z Fold 6’s 4400 mAh battery. To put the OnePlus Open’s 4805 mAh battery into perspective, the device comes with a charger that can accommodate up to 67W of charging power right out of the box.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 might represent a slight improvement.
These days, most phones receive little updates, and it appears that the Z Fold 6 may be no different. There are rumors that the chipset and design will be the sole modifications. You know how rumors work, though—they’re not always accurate. So, be cautious while interpreting it.
