Co-founder and resident George Wada of WIT Studio is now working on the One Piece anime remake. He has solved two significant faults from the original anime.
Eiichiro Oda is the author of the well-known comic series One Piece, which was eventually turned into an anime in 1999. Following its live-action Netflix version, the series gained even more international recognition. The franchise revealed at Jump Festa 2024 that Netflix and Wit Studio were working on a One Piece remake.
The full East Blue Saga will be covered in the remake. Luffy sets out on his adventure and assembles the world’s greatest crew in the first One Piece Saga. The studio has released the first information regarding the anime remake after a break of more than six months.
Wada says, “We’re making The One Piece anime to reach a wider audience.” Because of the current series’ lengthy episode count and outdated 4:3 format, many people are hesitant to watch it. These problems are being addressed in the remake.
Since the show’s debut in 1999, viewers’ main grievance with One Piece has been its tempo. To provide adequate material for several episodes, the original anime lengthens the combat scenes and includes a number of non-canon scenes. One Piece must adapt to the manga because it is a weekly program, which presents a challenge.
But the sheer quantity of episodes makes many anime fans reluctant to watch the show. As of right now, One Piece has more than 1100 episodes. But WIT Studio is probably removing a lot of pointless sequences to make it into a seasonal animation. Additionally, the 4:3 aspect ratio of the East Blue Saga in the original anime will also be rectified in the new version.
“This will literally be the greatest piece of fiction,” an admirer said. One Piece cannot be defeated if there are no pacing problems.
“The popularity of One Piece would increase tenfold if it were to finally receive a good anime adaptation from the beginning with excellent dubbing,” adds another.
“I know a lot of people hesitate to start One Piece because of the episode count and pacing,” adds another admirer. One of the issues is not the 4:3 aspect ratio. I’m hoping they can make this adaptation really outstanding. I’m waiting for updates, incidentally.
