The author of the upcoming drama “The Judge from Hell” on SBS has offered her opinions on the main cast members!
In the upcoming fantasy romance drama “The Judge from Hell,” Park Shin Hye plays Kang Bit Na, a demon from hell who has taken on the form of a judge. Kang Bit Na sets out on a quest to become a true judge after meeting the kind investigator Han Da On (Kim Jae Young), who puts a lot of effort into his work while living in an unforgiving world.
Writer Jo Yi Soo expressed her enormous joy with the drama’s casting, recalling, “I was working on the writing when I first heard over the phone that Park Shin Hye was cast. I screamed with delight when I hung up the phone, but I forced myself to remain calm for the entire conversation.
She went on, “I can’t even begin to describe how grateful I am to Park Shin Hye for selecting a script written by a first-time writer. I became determined to work even harder on the writing so that [the drama] wouldn’t be a stain on her name as an actress. I also recall deciding that I needed to be even gentler in my life because I had been given such a great blessing.
Jo Yi Soo continued, “The drama ‘Reflection of You’ really impacted me, especially with Kim Jae Young.” I was thrilled to learn that Kim Jae Young would be portraying Han Da On. Perhaps this was because I was a dedicated watcher who constantly checked in to watch the drama when it aired on television and who got particularly invested in the character played by Kim Jae Young. “Now that the casting is this ideal, all I have to do is perform well,” I told myself.
Jo Yi Soo said of the actors’ portrayals of their various roles, “Kang Bit Na is an extremely unusual and multifaceted character.” She is the protagonist, the focal point of the narrative, and the link between a multitude of individuals. Therefore, it was especially crucial to hire a woman with outstanding acting ability. She is a monster, but I wanted her to have an unexpected quality, therefore I always thought her role would go to a gentle and innocent-looking actor.
“I felt like I was finally seeing Kang Bit Na the day I met Park Shin Hye; she had always been vaguely obscured by a layer of fog when I envisaged her in the script. Kang Bit Na is Park Shin Hye, and Park Shin Hye is Kang Bit Na, in my opinion.
The author said of Kim Jae Young, “Han Da On is a character who is caring on the outside, but he has painful wounds on the inside.” He is crucial to our scenario since he is always keeping an eye out for Kang Bit Na and skeptical of her. He also needs to possess the energy necessary to defeat the demon Kang Bit Na even in his human form. He’s an extremely complex and challenging character to play as a result. During the scriptwriting process, I envisioned Han Da On’s gaze as varying from ferocious to loving, melancholy to playful, and occasionally resembling a puppy drenched in rain.
She went on, “His gaze was exactly the Han Da On I’d imagined when I saw Kim Jae Young.” “I am truly anticipating Kim Jae Young’s profound gaze, which will convey Han Da On’s nuanced emotions in a multitude of ways.”
The first two episodes of “The Judge from Hell” will premiere on September 21 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
