In a 5-2 victory over Al-Shabab on the road in the Saudi Arabian King Cup quarterfinals on Monday, Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo netted his 50th goal of 2023.
In the 74th minute, the 38-year-old finished a neat one-two with Otavio, another Portugal international, and scored a low goal from 10 yards out.
After goals from Seko Fofana, Sadio Mane, and Abdulrahman Ghareeb early in the game, put the score 4-1 in favor of Al Nassr.
When Ronaldo was replaced in the 82nd minute, there was a standing ovation.
After Mane’s assist, Al Nassr’s fifth goal was scored in extra time by his replacement, Mohammed Maran.
In the game on Monday, Otavio recorded two assists, having assisted both Mane and Ronaldo in scoring.
Al-Shabab’s goals were scored by Saudi Arabian winger Hattan Bahebri and Brazilian attacker Carlos.
For the second consecutive season, Al Nassr has advanced to the King Cup semifinals.
Last year, Ronaldo and company were defeated 1-0 by Al-Wehda in the semifinals.
Ronaldo scored 40 of his 50 goals in 2023 while he was a player for Al Nassr. In his nine Portugal appearances, he has scored the remaining ten goals.
