Phase 4 of Season of Discovery, which was mostly regarded as World of Warcraft’s first attempt at Classic+, is likely to come to an end. Several raids are included in that, and the game’s creator has now stated how frequently they may be farmed for rewards.
While the overall structure of the raids should be recognizable to players of Classic, the Season of Discovery versions feature a few significant modifications. Onyxia’s Lair and Molten Core in particular are referred to be raid dungeons; the latter is designed for 20-man groups and features 10 distinct boss encounters.
Players will also be able to utilize a variable difficulty modifier for the first time, which will increase the quality of the loot as the challenge increases. Players were wondering if the weekly raid lockout would be lowered after so many changes, but Molten Core at least does not appear to be the case.
Senior game producer Josh Greenfield announced that Molten Core will be on a weekly lockout in Season of Discovery in a blue post on the official World of Warcraft website. A twice-weekly lockout will be imposed on Lord Kazzak, Azuregos, and Onyxia, who are world bosses and single encounter instances respectively.
For Onyxia, this doesn’t represent a significant change from the standard five-day lockout in Classic World of Warcraft. Greenfield claims that the decision was made following a thorough community feedback process and was probably done to stop players from farming a lot of loot from the massive Molten Core instance.
After a bit of a slowdown in Phase 3, Season of Discovery Phase 4 appears to be a return to form with a ton of other improvements outside of raiding. It’s the biggest selection yet, with new dungeons, rewards, currencies, and runes.
