The two stars’ manager, Yu Zheng, recently provided fans with an inside look at the casting procedure. He claims that Bai Lu has not yet decided to join, but Wang Xingyue has already committed. He suggested that Bai Lu will make the ultimate decision, but he also reminded Wang Xingyue’s supporters to be grateful for the chance to work with the well-known actress. Yu Zheng expressed his opinions about the possible couple in a social media post that was full of emojis of deer and sun and moon, which stand for Bai Lu and Wang Xingyue. He acknowledged that after they both received offers for the drama, he was first hesitant to cast them together. Still, Bai Lu and Wang Xingyue found something appealing about the script. But when the two stars’ followers started arguing, he said that only one of them should be cast. According to Yu Zheng, the drama’s producing platform—Youku in this case—said that if Wang Xingyue were cast, the drama would be rated S+; but, if Bai Lu joined, the rating would rise to S++.

Although Wang Xingyue’s fame is growing, Yu Zheng noted that Bai Lu is still ahead of him. He said Wang Xingyue would use this drama as a major stepping stone. Yu Zheng also lamented the difficulty supporters were adding to a procedure that ought to have been straightforward.
