Warning: Spoilers ahead! Recently, Wang Xingyue’s studio was forced to apologize for what appears to be a grave error. They unveiled a previously uncut video of Wang Xingyue’s well-known combat sequence from “The Double,” in which he plays Duke Xiao Heng, who is overpowered by adversaries and bites the jade pendant Wu Jinyan’s Xiao Fengfei handed him.

In the video, you can see that Xiao Heng was slain in combat since you can see him spit blood and the jade fall. This depressing conclusion runs counter to Yu Zheng’s earlier assertion that it had a cheerful finish all along. To demonstrate the happy ending, a last-minute additional sequence was actually shot.
But now that it’s known there is a BE (bad ending) scene, drama fans—especially those who identified with Wang Xingyue’s character—have taken issue with Wang Xingyue and his group. While “decoupling” from a show is normal when it ends, it felt premature because the show had only recently concluded. His team looked to be trying to win over solo followers at the expense of the viewers of the show which helped make him famous.
Charges of Deconstructing the CP
It appears that this will cause heads to roll. The head of Wang Xingyue’s agency Huanyu, Yu Zheng, expressed his surprise at what had transpired and said he had little understanding of fan culture. The behind-the-scenes video that was made public bewildered him and made him angry. He also didn’t understand Wang Xingyue’s team’s justification for calling it the actor’s great moment. Yu Zheng reaffirmed that the cheerful ending is the actual one and that the director just included the melancholic ending as a backup option. Yu Zheng has made it clear that he plans to terminate employees. He also requested that followers cease spreading conspiracies about Wang Xingyue, claiming that he only goes in the path that the media directs him. “What does a little child like him know?”
Actors seem to take the step of “purifying,” which is essentially breaking up the couple’s combination. Although Yu Zheng claims he doesn’t give a damn, he acknowledges that the footage has drawn criticism because it includes a deleted sequence that he refused to let be released. Yu Zheng has stated that he hopes Wu Jinyan and Wang Xingyue would work together on another project in the interim.
