Dragon Age: The Veilguard has outperformed every single-player game released by EA on Steam in a matter of hours.
Finally available, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is experiencing some early success. According to our review, BioWare’s first visit to Thedas in almost ten years was worthwhile.
After some early marketing failed to impress potential players, there was some conjecture regarding the game’s possible commercial and critical performance. The title has generated a lot of controversy, and many players have questioned if more outspoken critics were premature in their criticism of the game.
That would seem to be the case after Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s sales exceeded initial projections due to a string of largely favorable reviews. This is demonstrated by the fact that the game now has more players on Steam than any single-player game that EA has ever put out on the platform.
As of this writing, there are now 70,414 players in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Due to the early boom, it has surpassed games like Mass Effect Legendary Edition and Star Wars Jedi Survivor, which previously held the record with an all-time high of 67,855.
Since the game was released on a weekday, it is anticipated to reach higher heights throughout the next weekend. Notably, this is the first game from EA and BioWare to be released on Steam in addition to other platforms. Prior titles from the developer and publisher had to be launched using the EA app.
In addition to having a comparatively large number of players for an EA and BioWare game on Steam, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has also succeeded in unseating Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as the platform’s top seller.
