The Taiwanese film The Pig, The Snake and The Pigeon ƙ除三害, which debuted in October 2023, seems to be seeing a sharp increase in popularity in 2024 as it opens in mainland theaters and on Netflix. The movie did so well that it became the top streaming title in Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong. At the moment, it leads the Chinese box office as well.
Starring in the most talked-about Chinese film of the past few days are Ethan Ruan, Ben Yuen, Chen Yi-wen, Gingle Wang, and Lee Lee-zen, who have all received high marks for their performances. In actuality, Ethan has received praise for his outstanding performance. He portrays a cancer-stricken mobster who finds out he’s the third most wanted man on the run. In an attempt to emerge victorious, he embarks on a violent escapade to eliminate the two most prominent offenders. It’s widely regarded as his best acting to date. Strangely enough, given that Ming Dao is frequently confused for the movie’s protagonist, perhaps the production should include his name on the cast list as well!
What are your thoughts, guys? Are Ming Dao and Ethan on-screen identical twins? It seems that many believe this. Ming Dao even asked Ethan what to do, seeming humiliated as a result. “Xiao Tian, I feel like I need to make something clear. What should I do? (Ethan) I’ve been receiving compliments on how I played The Pig, The Snake, and The Pigeon. Can you help clarify this in any way? On social media, he posted.
The actor, 44, talked about how enthusiastic people would come up to him and he didn’t exactly know what to say. “That is, how do I let them know that you, and not me, are the one in the movie?” stated Ming Dao. “Alright, let’s pool our minds and come up with something.” Ming Dao also made sure to commend Ethan for his efforts.
To be fair, though, Ming Dao isn’t the only one who misidentifies himself as Ethan. Ethan, 41, who originally gained notoriety in the movie Fated to Love You, is also mistaken for the star of The Prince Who Turns Into a Frog. They both happened to star opposite Joe Chen. Ask Ethan’s own grandparents, who he once said thought that pictures of Ming Dao were actually pictures of him.
