Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan were sighted back in March on the set of First Frost 难哄, the sister drama of 2023’s summer blockbuster Hidden Love, in which they will be playing Wen Yifan and Sang Yan, Sang Zhi’s brother. This is another from the group Hidden Love, Wajijiwa and Youku. Although they will only have supporting roles in the spin-off, fans of the original novel will be happy to learn that Duan Jiaxu and Sang Zhi will still be present. However, none of the original cast members will be reprising their roles. Wu Yuheng and Liu Chutian will play the roles of Zhao Lusi and Chen Zheyuan in their place.
The drama’s primary leads were confirmed, in addition to the other performers on the cast roster. Known for his role in the BL film Your Name Engraved Herein, Taiwanese actor Edward Chen Hao-sen is making his debut in Chinese dramas as Su Haoan, the second male lead, with cutesy Zhang Miaoyi as Zhong Siqiao, his love interest. In addition, actor Yuan Ye will play Mu Chengyun, and Zhai Xiaowen will play a unique leading role as Xiang Lang.
