Tom Hiddleston, globally recognized for his portrayal of Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has recently hinted at a significant confrontation in the eagerly anticipated film, Deadpool & Wolverine.
Numerous Marvel fans view the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film as the catalyst needed to rekindle the excitement within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with its release slated for this summer.
As revealed in the film’s trailer, Deadpool will cross paths with the Time Variance Authority (TVA), and be assigned the mission to traverse the multiverse. This journey will lead him to encounter Wolverine, a character who had previously been exclusive to the X-Men films under Fox’s ownership.
The TVA is a familiar entity to most fans, having played a pivotal role in the Loki TV series as both allies and adversaries. Given the TVA’s connection to Loki, speculation is rife among Marvel fans that the God of Mischief may make an appearance in the film. This speculation was further fueled by a comment made by Tom Hiddleston, who portrays Loki.
In an interview with Variety, when asked about who he would like to see Loki confront, Hiddleston responded, “Oh my goodness. I don’t know. I mean, now there’s all these new… the X-Men are back in there, right? I mean… Wolverine is in them…” When pressed further on whether he was suggesting a potential face-off between the two, Hiddleston skillfully evaded the question, repeating, “I don’t know.”
The notion of Loki squaring off with Wolverine in Deadpool 3 is not entirely outlandish. The conclusion of Loki’s TV series positioned the God of Mischief as the most potent entity in the MCU. In the final episode of Season 2, Loki sacrificed himself to obliterate the Temporal Loom and used his magic to collect all the threads of time, thereby becoming the custodian of time itself.
If the TVA, Deadpool, and Wolverine begin to tamper with the flow of time, threatening the equilibrium that Loki painstakingly established, it’s plausible that the God of Time would descend from his throne to quell whoever is causing the disturbance.
