If you consider the fact that a large number of people watched a giant Luffy from One Piece have his hat destroyed by cruel nature and that Al Roker interrupted a live TV broadcast to yell Good Burger lines at Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell as victories, then perhaps the Thanksgiving holiday wasn’t all that bad for the movie theaters.
According to THR, 28.5 million people reportedly tuned in to see NBC’s broadcast of the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade on Thursday, making it the most-watched edition of the annual event ever. This makes the parade broadcast, among other things, the most-watched entertainment event on linear TV for the whole year. Not bad for the 97th running of this specific parade—especially considering that a sizable portion of the audience consisted of people in the 18–49 age range, who we do not often consider to be prime “looking at balloon types.”
