Given that the Macan is currently Porsche’s best-selling model in the UK, this is the updated Porsche Macan, which is now an electric vehicle. Going all-electric early seems… daring.
The Macan 4 and Macan Turbo are the two initial models that will be available. They will both have dual motors and all-wheel drive, and they will share a 100kWh battery, of which 95kWh is usable. The Macan 4 and Macan Turbo will be powered by Porsche’s new 800-volt PPE (Premium Platform Electric), which is interestingly the first time the company has electrified an existing model.
In real life, you’ll be looking at high 200s because the less powerful Macan 4’s range is only expected to be 380 miles, while the quicker Turbo’s range is 367 miles. which is all rather pleasant. But Porsche hasn’t cut corners since it wouldn’t be a Porsche if it were sluggish or heavy. With a maximum power output of slightly over 400 horsepower, the Macan 4 can reach 62 mph in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 137 mph. With launch control, the Turbo can produce 635 horsepower. It can accelerate from rest to 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds, and it can achieve a top speed of 162 mph.
A base Porsche Macan with a 4-cylinder, turbocharged, 263-bhp engine currently costs £53,400. At £71,700, the most costly six-cylinder Macan GTS is heavy. That is a good deal. However, the electric version will unavoidably cost you more; the Macan 4 is priced at £69,800, and the Macan Turbo at £95,000.
