Pictures from “Wonderful World,” the new drama on MBC, have been revealed from the first reading of the script!
In the heartbreaking thriller “Wonderful World,” Kim Nam Joo plays Eun Soo Hyun, a mother who wants retribution for the untimely death of her son. Once the offender circumvents the judicial system to avoid punishment, she takes matters into her own hands to seek justice. Lee Seung Young, the director of “Tracer,” “Voice 2,” and “The Missing,” will direct the drama.
At the script reading were cast members Kim Nam Joo, Cha Eun Woo, Kim Kang Woo, Im Se Mi, Park Hyuk Kwon, Gil Hae Yeon, Cha Soo Yeon, Oh Man Seok, Jin Geon Woo, Yang Hye Ji, and more, in addition to director Lee Seung Young and writer Kim Ji Eun.
Kim Nam Joo said, “As a mother raising two children, the profound maternal love deeply resonated with me,” when she thought back on her choice to participate in the drama. “The drama offers a multitude of heartwarming emotions as individuals with similar pain find healing in each other,” said Cha Eun Woo.
The ensemble, who had never worked together before, demonstrated incredible chemistry as they immersed themselves in the potent dialogues that reveal the complex emotions of persons coping with various tragedies.
Kim Nam Joo plays the role of Eun Soo Hyun, a well-known psychology professor and author whose idyllic family life drastically changes once her young son passes away. She did a fantastic job of portraying a range of emotions throughout the script reading, moving from the fiery feelings brought on by her son’s tragedy and the maternal warmth that Eun Soo Hyun radiates when she is with her husband Kang Soo Ho and son Kang Geon Woo.
In the film, Cha Eun Woo plays Kwon Sun Yool, a young man from a wealthy family who chooses to forgo attending medical school and lives a difficult existence until he unintentionally crosses paths with Eun Soo Hyun. Cha Eun Woo deftly uses subtle facial movements and conversation to reveal the tenderness that lies beneath Kwon Sun Yool’s exterior coldness. He is expected to give an extraordinary performance in the drama because of his interpretation, which promises a gritty and careless charm.
The character played by Kim Kang Woo is Kang Soo Ho, a prominent anchorman and former journalist whose life takes an unexpected turn after the terrible death of his son. Kim Kang Woo portrays a man who is initially defined by a strong sense of justice, but who gradually changes as his family disintegrates due to an unanticipated tragedy, all while deftly illustrating the character’s metamorphosis.
Han Yoo Ri, the CEO of a boutique store and Eun Soo Hyun’s real sister, is portrayed by Im Se Mi. Throughout the drama, Han Yoo Ri’s sisterly connection with Eun Soo Hyun will be filled with wonderful and endearing chemistry, as she has profound care for the lives of both Eun Soo Hyun and Eun Soo Hyun’s mother.
The first episode of “Wonderful World” is scheduled for March 1 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
