The official confirmation of Bray Wyatt’s The Fiend’s return to WWE 2K24 has been made. Despite Bray Wyatt’s inclusion in WWE 2K23’s DLC roster, The Fiend’s gameplay was limited to two games: the much disliked WWE 2K20 and WWE Battlegrounds. After being fired from WWE in 2021, Wyatt returned to the company in 2022, and his introduction as a new character marked the end of The Fiend.
The fan base of WWE video games had long demanded that 2K offer different Bray Wyatt incarnations as DLC for WWE 2K23 following Wyatt’s passing in 2023. But despite all of the love, Wyatt was only ever included in that game as his final role before he passed away. The character’s mystique, along with his two Universal title reigns, creativity, and history, provided die-hard fans with an even greater admiration for The Fiend. Fans of WWE 2K24 are in luck now that The Fiend has been formally announced for the game.
The Fiend’s entire entry into the game was officially confirmed with a video published to WWE 2K24‘s official Twitter account. The comments section exulted over the deceased WWE Superstar’s return to the WWE game franchise and paid their respects. Positive responses primarily expressed gratitude to 2K for the addition, while a few critical remarks questioned whether more mask choices for the character were available. Since the character’s entrance typically occurs in a darkened arena, some fans questioned the realism of the entrance lights; nonetheless, the majority of them hoped that this may be rectified prior to the official release. But the character model appears to be very different from WWE 2K20’s The Fiend, with new hair appearing to be one of the main differences.
Speculations from fans on The Fiend’s inclusion
Since The Fiend was shown pointing at the WrestleMania sign in early teases for the 40 Years of WrestleMania mode’s video package, fan speculation had been running high. It is possible that fans recall The Fiend competing against John Cena in a Firefly Fun House bout at WrestleMania 36. The Fiend did face Randy Orton in a WrestleMania 37 match, however that match’s gimmick was a charred mask, which is absent from this formal revelation. Fans are therefore hoping that Wyatt’s inclusion in the mode may have anything to do with the Firefly Fun House match.
As WWE 2K24 draws nearer to release, anticipation is strong. WWE 2K24 is not only emulating the triumphant WWE 2K23, but it is also expanding upon the heritage established by WWE 2K14 with its three decades of WrestleMania. Renowned players from the 1980s and 1990s graced the roster of WWE 2K14, perhaps making it one of the greatest ever. Many fans are hopeful that 2K doesn’t just recycle and retread any of the WWE 2K14 matchups. The announcement of The Fiend and Muhammad Ali’s WWE 2K debut could suggest that the company is adding a few more matches.
